Don't miss our first Animal Science Departmental Seminar of the year, featuring special guest Dr. Tim Johnson from Purdue University College of Agriculture. Dr. Johnson's seminar is titled "Fiber Selectivity to Predictably Alter Microbiome Composition."
About the speaker: Dr. Tim Johnson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Animal Sciences at Purdue University. Prior to coming to Purdue, Dr. Johnson received his PhD from Michigan State University in 2013, followed by a postdoc at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, followed by a second postdoc at the USDA National Animal Disease Center. Dr. Johnson uses multi-omics approaches (metagenomics, metabolomics, and metatranscriptomics) to study microbial communities associated with livestock species. The overarching goal of his research is to determine how to use microbes and communities of microbes as tools to promote animal health and growth. Another important goal of his research is to develop strategies to reduce antimicrobial resistance in bacteria from agricultural sources.
This event will be held from 12-1 PM on Friday, September 19 in Room 23 of the Food Science and Nutrition Building (23 FScN) on the University of Minnesota St. Paul Campus.
